It's all about the $$$$$

(start rant) I can't believe it. Like many others, I've spent the last 10 days completely engulfed in the "Jet" sickness - overcome with sympathy for the Groene family, and endlessly grateful that my own little daughter is safe here at home with me.

My inability to let go of the threads into Duncan's online tapestry of madness have led me into absolute sinkholes of depravity - pedophilia, pornography (soft and hard), and prison penpal sites. I've done this not just because the story has sucked me in, but because I can. Making connections between information is what I do (occasionally for a living). This time, I'm hoping all those research skills will do more than satisfy my need to know; I hope it will help somebody.

Sadly,the almighty dollar is far stronger than human feelings or normal sensitivity for some. It seems that people are trying to cash in on the enormous number of google searches being run on certain terms - specifically "fifthnail". Godaddy.com registered the following domain names on July 11: "fifthnail.net, fifthnail.org" (and probably more). Note: I did not hotlink these. I suspect they are getting $ for every hit and my purpose here is not to encourage them.

It makes me sick. One would think capitalism and the entrepreneurial spirit could be tempered with some basic morality and ethics. (end of rant)
