Katrina - Up Close

I've just come back from an agonizing virtual visit to Pearlington, MS, where I spent time, and tears, looking into the faces of people who have lost it all.

Katrina did not discriminate, and as the talented and eloquent owner of this site said,

They were on the bottom before Katrina, but she's stomped their faces into the mud, deep and black. They're below the bottom now, if it could be believed, and it's killing me.

Many thanks to the SciGuy for sharing this today.

Clayton Cubitt's work is amazing and haunting. This is a talent that deserves a wider audiance. Thanks for the link to his blog. I am a native Mississippian which I think makes his story and diary even more poignant for me.

This is absolutely amazing. Thank you so much for adding Clayton Cubitt's link. I am in Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh area) and found your blog on one of the news web sites after Katrina, and I've been reading it everyday since. My heart goes out to everyone in the area. I cant imagine what this must be like, but you've managed to shed some light
