As I write this, it's 3:37 in the morning in Islamabad, Pakistan - a city of over 800,000 people... and currently the center of hell.
Latest official counts in the US press (CNN) indicate that over 1300 are already known to have died in the 7.6 scale earthquake, while the HindustanTimes.com is reporting over 300 in Jammu and Kashmir, and 1700 in Pakistan.
Update: 9:45 pm - The Pakistani military is now reporting 18,000 have died. I have no words.
On top of the collapsed buildings and rolling aftershocks, Islamabad.net reports that
Islamabad and surroundings received heavy rain and thunderstorm on Saturday night causing serious trouble during rescue. I'm so sad for all the people suffering there tonight, who will be facing nightmares in the coming days. My thoughts are there.
